The Client
During its 2017 survey, a Chinese youth mental health support group "Bye Depression" found out that 50% of their members stopped to visit their psychiatrists after their first or second doctor visit. Group workers reached out to connect those members and found out that 90% of them were prescribed medications that require patients to visit their psychiatrists regularly.
Sudden cut-off of follow-up visits would lead to various hazards: 1. Without follow-up visits, depression disorder patients are more prone to using prescribed medications incorrectly.
2. While their status are very possible to change over time, depression disorder patients could be totally ignorant of this situation without professional help.

"Bye Depression" asked a group of 2 developers, 1 clinical therapist, 1 psychiatrist and me to find out a solution to phenomenon described above. Our challenge is:

-
To find out why a high proportion of depression disorder patients in China stopped to visit psychiatrists after their first or second appointment.

-
To develop a simple solution which would motivate as many as possible MDD patients in China to see their doctors regularly.
